The much publicized ‘Mallanna’ arrived today. The openings are very strong and let us see if the maker made it right or wrong.

Story:Mallanna (Vikram) is a CBI officer who stands like Robinhood in disguise for suffering poor people. He forms a secret group and makes them collect the wish-list of poor devotees at Srisailam Mallanna temple those get tied regularly to a tree in temple premises. The wishes range from a need of Rs 10000 for poor bride’s marriage to a bigger thing like injustice from government officials. Mallanna pilfers the black money from rotten rich people with his intelligence and fulfils the needs of poor people in the disguise of God Mallanna. People believe that God Mallanna is answering their wishes.

Subbalakshmi (Shriya) is the daughter of a cruel and rich man (Asish Vidyarthi) and she become love interest of Mallanna. She has the shades of both good and bad.
An intelligence officer (Prabhu) comes into the scene to make people develop faith in system but not Mallanna. He works to prove that Mallanna is not a God but a human being. Finally, will he succeed in that attempt? That forms rest of the story.

Performances:Vikram:He is a perfect actor but the director exploited him in wrong way with Cock get up. He is ok with lady’s get up but the movements he delivered are very bad. The best part in him with respect to this film is singing his own songs. That’s matchless indeed. He proved more than a professional playback singer.

Shriya:She enthralled with ‘Allegra…’. All these days people know the expression ‘shake it like Shakira’. But now after watching this song, one has to say ‘Shake it like Shriya’. Rest is ok.
Susi Ganesan:He appeared in a not so important role chasing the protagonist till Mexico.
Krishna:He is ok as CBI Joint Director
Prabhu:He is too heavy to watch on big screen. His body language is not convincing to be an active intelligence officer.

No Comedy- Brahmanandam’s presence added fuel to the pain instead of bringing laughs
Weak narration- The need of unearthing the black money from crooked rich hasn’t conveyed with right spirit
Poor Editing- No frame sustains for more than 2-3 seconds and that cause huge disturbance to eyes and audience feel it difficult to get connected to screen
Substandard Cinematography- For the budget incurred on movie, the camera would have captured things better
Worst Fight Sequences- Needless to say
Length of the movie- It’s really a longest torture with 3 hr 10 minutes.
Analysis:Telugu audiences have seen films like Azaad, Bharateeyudu etc with the kind of Robihhood elements. Mallanna also falls in that wagon. Concept is ok. But the execution is very bad.Mallanna’s character was carved with the inspiration of Batman but that didn’t gel well with the taste of majority Telugu audiences. Eccentricities were seen in the character with the get up of Cock. The concepts of this sort sound better when dealt with convincing scenes those are close to reality. Although cinema liberties can be taken they cannot be of this extreme.
Romance part is very weak in the movie and that is another big minus. Shriya was given a tomboyish type of character and she could justify up to that.

Raviteja having scored a blockbuster with ‘Kick’, crazy mass hero Ravi Teja has arrived with his new movie and given his hit combination with Nayantara, the expectations have been high.

Story: Anjaneyulu (Ravi) is a straight forward guy with a care a damn attitude. He works with a TV channel and one day he meets Anjali (Nayan). It is love at first sight for him, his life takes a turn when an unforeseen incident happens for his parents Krishnamurthy (Nasser), Lakshmi (Vinaya). How he deals with that issue forms rest of the story line.
As a part of his profession, Anjaneyulu changes his name as Pavan and enters as sleeping cell in the group of some anti social elements. There is a connection between his profession and personal life from then. The suspense is revealed in second half and real saga continues from then.

PerformancesRavi Teja: It is Ravi’s show all the way and his energetic performance keeps the tempo high. He has become versatile with his expressions and his emotions are quite good. The screen presence of Ravi Teja has been growing strong with each passing movie of his.
Nayantara: She didn’t have much to do in this one but then there is not much of oomph show from her end, Nayan could have checked the hair stylist and the make up artistes, she looked quite dull in this one. Not much for her to do in terms of performance. Radio Mirchi Sowmya's dubbing for Nayantara is perfectly in sync and elevated the role.

Others: Brahmanandam made his presence felt, Jeeva was neat, Srinivas Reddy was good, Jayaprakash Reddy was regular, Sonu Sood flaunted his muscles but not much scope to perform for him. M S Narayana provided few laughs, Nasser was elegant, Prakashraj was good, Raja Ravindra was normal, the others did their bit to contribute.
Technical departments: The film has been presented decently but it is the narrative which kept things going. The dialogues were witty and sensible wherever required, script was written neatly, screenplay was apt. Two songs were good, background score was okay, cinematography was up to the standard. Editing was crisp. Costumes were alright but not good for Nayantara, art department was neat.

AnalysisThe film has got nothing new to offer but one can see traces of Puri Jagannadh in it, though the formula is old, it was narrated keeping the audience engaged. The first half just whizzes past leaving no idle moment. The second half slows down due to the sentiment and melodrama angle and unwanted songs but overall, the film has got enough ingredients to take it to the success mark.

Puri’s influence is totally carried on Parasuram in this film. He has all energies to match the requirements of a star director. He proved with this film that he can handle big heroes, big budget, big comedy and big action. And there are influences of Shankar on his too, especially while dealing with some funeral scenes in second half.
After Kick, again Anjaneyulu has something for masses and action-comedy film lovers.

Snehituda obviously is about friendship. The film starts on an interesting note introducing Naani, his background. This goes on for quite some time and you are under the impression that this film revolves around his naughty behaviour, his adventures with Madhavi Latha. But even before the first half of the film ends, the story meanders and starts focusing on the heroine. An orphan Naani lives in others' apartments and leads a comfortable life. Don't ask how, he just finds his way into others' homes - without their knowledge at the right time.On one occasion he finds Madhavi Latha too who has run away from home having a flashback to narrate. There is now a baddie from whom Madhavi is wanting to escape from, she even finds herself being sold to a brothel house. Then suddenly Naani helps her, lands at her home and works at creating peace between father (Nasser) and daughter (Madhavi Latha). Wait there is a silly sub-plot too. Nasser has a love interest Apoorva and Naani makes an entry calling himself her son. What happens thereafter is downright ridiculous and predictable.

There is no connection from between the first half of the film and the next. So much history on Naani goes waste. Nasser is shown to be a serious person, addressed as Tiger in the house but he has a past that doesn't gel with the story, leaving his character with no weight. Imagine a daughter having respect for her father and going through a bad marriage just because she doesn't want to hurt him, and on other occasion, she telling Naani about her father's past and allowing him to ridicule Nasser even if it means to bring the father and daughter together.Brahmanandam makes an effort to be funny but that doesn't work.

The director lacks clarity, in showing the relationship the lead pair shares, be it love or friendship. Till you see a duet, you don't realize that the couple is in love. Due to many close-up shots in Nacchavule one didn't notice Madhavi's height but here you can make out clearly that she is short. There is one dialogue that is aimed at her height when Naani says, that people choose America, London but none wish to pick on Sri Lanka.Both the actors did their job convincingly but it is the script that played spoilsport. Faulty screenplay fails to enthuse the viewers, dialogues are routine and feather-weight. You get a feeling that a familiar actress has dubbed for Madhavi Latha. The actress should be allowed to use her voice for getting that distinct feel.Snehituda is not a great film, it just boasts of one number, some casual, good performances by the hero, heroine which is marred by confused plot, inept direction. You lose nothing by not watching the film.

The much publicized RGV’s ADAVI or Agyaat at last released today. It’s the debut for Telugu hero Nithin as well into Bollywood. Let us see how it appealed for audience and how far in tune with expectations and fear quotient.

Story:A film shooting crew go deep into forest but they lose the contact from outer world and also the way to return back. Sharman Kapoor (Goutham Rude) is the popular film star who keeps on showing his airs on his colleagues. Sujan (Nithin) is the Assistant Director of the movie who loves Asha (Priyanka Kothari), the heroine in the crew.
Murthy (Ishrat Ali) is the producer of the movie who speaks Hindi in his typical Tamil accent. Along with them a director JJ (Harvey), forest guide Sethu (Joy) a spot boy Laxman (Istheyak), Sameera (Rasika), an action director (Ravi Kale) and a cameraman walk through the forest.
They find each one among them getting killed by a mystic predator. At last two would remain alive. But the secret of predator is left unknown for audience. The word ‘Coming Soon Agyaat 2’ flashes on screen

This unbaked product is RGV’s ‘Agyaat’ (released in Telugu as Adavi).
Performances:Nithin:He looked macho and perfectly in tune with young Bollywood actors. He has good future in Bollywood as well, if he concentrates more on his dance, expressions and picking up right stories. Agyaats may not give oxygen for him.
Priyanka Kothari:She looked better than that of her previous movies. She portrayed enough oomph and sufficient expressions wherever required.
Ishrat Ali:He entertained in first half with his Hindi that rolls on Tamil tongue
Goutham Rode:He has shown his muscular body and carried on his role up to requirement
Others are perfectly in sync with the requirement. Ishteyak entertained well with his ‘jai matha di’ episode. Ravi Kale is ok in stunt master role.

Technical team:There is nothing big to speak about technical team except Camera work and Sound. Editing is also crisp and clear. Direction is not a big deal here and any fresher can make this sort of film.

Ram Gopal Varma failed to understand what he was making and hence concluded the movie shoot all of a sudden and released this 1:45 Hr stuff
Ram Gopal Varma might be thinking that he has started a new revolution in film industry- screening the pre-interval part as one movie and post-interval part as another
Ram Gopal Varma must have gone insane
Ram Gopal Varma must be considering his audience insane
Ram Gopal Varma is losing creativity and depending on stories from recycle bin
Ram Gopal Varma, with Agyaat, behaved like a host who takes away the plate from guest half way through his meal (without giving conclusion)
Ram Gopal Varma must be making any nonsense movie just for the sake of his pocket money (selling the movie to someone and making some table profit with his legendary image)
This movie is an unfinished factory product as it has got no conclusion. A troupe going into deep forest and each one getting killed by some unknown mystic creature/human in horrified way, is an age old formula.
That’s not a problem, indeed.
The major factor in this film is to generate fear and thrill among audience with sound effects, unforeseen scenes and sudden surprises. But there are no sufficient things packed in this film.
Although there are a couple of trials to generate fear, they didn’t gel well with the immunity of audience. Some laughs took genesis in theaters at interval, instead of fear filled silence.
There weren’t any chills and shivers except those brought by Air Conditioners in theaters. The conclusion line is not the routine ‘The End’ but ‘Coming Soon- Agyaat 2’!!!
So, one need to wait till RGV comes out with his Agyaat-2 to unleash the secret of that predator, shown in this film.
Considering this Agyaat as a full-movie, it brings utter disappointment for audiences. If it’s considered as half-movie that’s bigger displeasure.
